Serving our world

"Also, seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you... Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper." Jeremiah 29:7

Outreach is at the heart of the Christian life. Followers of Jesus do not spend all of their time in church! God calls us to go out into the world to serve God by loving others: by ensuring that every person has enough to eat, a place to sleep, clean water to drink.

Below you'll find more information on the initiatives and partnerships that North Decatur supports year after year.

You can find more information about any current events and activities here. Join us in serving our world!

Decatur and Atlanta ministries

NDUMC Food Pantry – The church gives snack bags of non-perishable food items to anyone who needs help. You can bring donations of bottled water, crackers, cereal bars, pop-top canned meat, or raisins to the church office at any time.

Decatur Cooperative Ministry – NDUMC  has a special partnership with DCM's Project Take Charge whose offices are located here on our campus. Also, twice a year the Church serves dinner each night for a week with women and children who are living at DCM’s Hagar’s House shelter, and we support DCM through school supply drives, monthly food pantry collections, and other volunteer work.

D.E.A.M. (Decatur Emergency Assistance Ministries) – Through food donations and in our church budget, NDUMC provides food and financial assistance to our Decatur-area neighbors in need through DEAM.

Trinity House – Three times a year members of the Church prepare dinner and share it with between fifteen to forty men that are turning their lives around at Trinity House.

united methodist ministries

Action Ministries – By meeting basic needs of hunger relief, housing and education, Action Ministries, a United Methodist ministry, leads Georgians out of poverty.

United Methodist Children’s Home – The Children’s Home is a safe haven for abused children and struggling families. They provide foster care, campus-based housing for youth and families, and family support services.

Wesley Woods Senior Living – At twelve residences which emphasize wellness, socialization, education and personal fulfillment, Wesley Woods helps people age with grace.

Trinity Table at Trinity United Methodist Church – One Sunday every year we prepare a hot lunch for over 400 homeless men, women and children.

international ministries

Imagine No Malaria – Since 2006, The United Methodist Church has focused on the life-saving power of a $10 net through Nothing but Nets. Now we must do more to make sustainable victory over malaria possible. Through Imagine No Malaria, The United Methodist Church is working in partnership with our brothers and sisters in Africa to eliminate death and suffering from malaria. NDUMC supports this ministry through a special offering.

Stop Hunger Now - Stop Hunger Now provides healthy school lunches for kids in developing countries who otherwise wouldn't get a meal. Just 25 cents provides enough nutritious food to feed a child for an entire day. In 2014 NDUMC raised funds and packaged 10,000 meals, and 2015 we more than doubled that and packaged more than 24,000 meals!
