Vision and Values
North Decatur United Methodist Church’s Vision is to:
Foster a spiritual refuge that nourishes faith lived as
Christ’s hands and feet, embolden all people to experience
Beloved Community, and form disciples who embody
Christ’s love for each other, themselves, and all creation.
What North Decatur United Methodist Values:
- We will create space for an honest encounter with God. Worship will be an enlivening haven where joy and reverence meet; we can bring our full selves—our doubts, gratitude, and wonder—to be renewed by God’s presence.
- We will welcome all into a warm, joyful, and participatory worshiping life. We will ensure everyone has a place in worship, contributing voices, gifts, and presence to a shared rhythm of prayer, sacrament, tradition, and song.
- We will be deeply rooted in this community. We believe God has called us to this place and these people; our location is a gift that grounds our mission in the real needs, stories, and relationships of our neighborhood.
- We will practice love that repairs and reconciles. We will seek justice and healing through relationships marked by humility, compassion, and courage, standing with others as partners in God’s transforming work. Our connectional ministry will embolden all people to experience Beloved Community.
- We will grow together through curiosity and care. We will approach faith as a shared journey of learning and listening–anchored by spiritual practices–where questions deepen understanding and compassion sustains community.
- We will nurture belonging that mirrors God’s grace. We will commit to relationships that are gracious, authentic, and mutual. In our spaces every person will be known, valued, and invited to grow in Christ’s love.
